Position Overview
This position, classified as Academic Advisor II (Academic/Student Success Advisor), is responsible for the Advising, Student Services, Career Services, and Academic Success programs provided to Gallatin College students enrolled in Associate of Art or Science degree programs as well as Workforce Programs at the Gallatin College “East” location and the MSU Campus.

- Serve as project/service coordinator for one of three focus areas:
Admissions and Enrollment, Student Success Initiatives, or Career Placement. - Provide academic advising services to Gallatin College Associate of Arts and Science degree‑seeking students and Workforce degree‑seeking students primarily at the Gallatin College “East” location and the MSU Campus.
- Counsel and advise students regarding their academic plan, career goals, and transition to college.
- Initiate outreach to developmental students through the Early Alert program and midterm D/F grade contacts.
- Compile success data and create reports.
- Interact with students, faculty, and staff on a daily basis.
- Liaise with MSU Disability Services, Academic Advising Center, Office of Student Success, and other MSU resources.
- Work closely with other Gallatin College advisors and serve Gallatin College degree‑seeking students as needed.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Demonstrated experience working with college students or a similar population as mentor, advisor, or coach in a professional environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn new technologies and software programs.
- Master’s Degree in Adult and Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, or a related discipline.
- Experience advising, coaching, or teaching college students.
- Experience in Admissions, Enrollment, Advising, Student Success, or Career Placement, especially with college students.
- Be committed to two‑year education.
- Have effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate successfully with faculty, staff, students, local businesses, and industry employers.
- Have strong written, oral, and communication skills.
- Work positively with teams and individuals of various backgrounds.
- Display an aptitude for problem solving and facilitating the work of others.
- Take initiative and work well independently.
- Be confident and competent in oral presentation and excel in public speaking.
- Exercise good judgment in decision making.
- Maintain confidentiality of records and information.
