Director, Writing Center

Montana State University is hiring a Director for the Writing Center. The Director will provide dynamic leadership aligned with university and college priorities, manage Writing Center operations, develop and assess programming, and build community engagement among students, faculty, and staff.

• Lead the Writing Center in alignment with Montana State University and College of Letters & Science strategies.
• Collaborate with the Dean and campus leaders to advance Writing Center mission and university goals.
• Maintain faculty advisory board and develop program learning outcomes with annual assessments.
• Oversee graduate and undergraduate tutoring programs and innovate writing support models.
• Recruit, supervise, mentor, and evaluate Writing Center staff and tutors.
• Manage budget and operations for the Writing Center.
• Required qualifications include a Master’s, MFA, or Doctorate in TESOL, English, Composition and Rhetoric, Creative Writing, Education, or related field and experience leading university writing programs.
• Preferred qualifications include interdisciplinary program experience, familiarity with AI writing technologies in education, and grant writing skills.
• Starting salary begins at $73,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
• The position requires strong communication, decision‑making, and supervisory skills with experience working across diverse university constituencies.
