Job Overview
HDR Engineering is searching for an experienced Irrigation Leader to lead our irrigation practice. In this role you will assist in the growth and technical leadership of the group, coordinating, managing, and executing the planning and design of hydraulic/irrigation focused civil design projects, and leading a group of professionals in the management, execution and production of studies, designs, reports, plans and specifications for a diverse range of hydraulic facilities and structures.
Responsibilities- Direct and coordinate the work of single or multi-discipline teams throughout the project lifecycle (from development and initiation to close‑out).
- Responsible for all aspects of complex small to medium projects or routine large projects.
- Produce and coordinate several small to medium projects concurrently.
- Establish and maintain client relations, and be involved with marketing, contractual, design and production meetings.
- Conduct work sessions for deliverable development in conjunction with other staff and stakeholders.
- Coordinate staffing and workload throughout the entire project life cycle, and ensure completion of deliverables on schedule.
- Track financial aspects of projects, and coordinate and adjust work effort with the team to keep work within agreed‑to budget and schedule.
- Work with Accounting, Operations and Business Leadership for periodic project reviews.
- Implement QA/QC procedures.
- Perform other duties as needed.
- Master's degree.
- 10+ years civil engineering experience, with emphasis on design and irrigation.
- Commitment to quality, continuous improvement and HDR values.
- Experience planning studies, design, and irrigation.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Professional or engineering registration and related technical experience in the development and management of diverse teams.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.
- Active commitment to participation in an employee‑owned culture.
- Experience with planning, design and construction of water storage reservoirs, pumping plants, river diversions, conveyance and control facilities, hydropower, and erosion control is desirable.
- Experience supervising medium to large teams of professionals and technicians.
- Experience in business development for irrigation projects and working with irrigation districts, the Bureau of Reclamation, and Natural Resources Conservation Service, as well as the Bureau of Indian Affairs and Tribes desired.
- Proven ability to mentor and supervise staff.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- 7 years related experience.
- Minimum 2 years project management experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
- MS Office and MS Project experience required (Access experience a plus).
- Demonstrated leadership skills.

Expected compensation range: $110,656 – $158,080 per year, depending on skills, experience, education and location.
