Summary:
The Biomedical Equipment Technician I (BMET I) provides clinical equipment services under the close supervision of Tri Medx management. Duties include validation, inspection of clinical equipment for completeness, mechanical and electrical safety, and proper operation. The individual also performs planned maintenance inspections, calibrations, and repairs of general biomedical equipment, and assists other technicians in troubleshooting and major repair of complex equipment.
- Technical Service – 40%: performance assurance (PA) inspections, scheduled maintenance, electrical safety inspections (ESI), and operation verification procedures (OVP) on general biomedical equipment; repair, install, calibrate general biomedical equipment; inform supervisors of status; work with subcontractors and vendors; ongoing training.
- Regulatory Compliance – 25%: accuracy of equipment database, adherence to Medical Equipment Management Plan (MEMP); ensure all service and documentation complete.
- Account Relationship Management – 25%: build and maintain customer relationships; discuss equipment status; represent Tri Medx services.
- Inventory – 10%: perform periodic inspections of inventory; verify security analysis; perform incoming inspections; maintain database; recommend inventory changes.
- Complex computer skills: interpret error codes, defragment drives, replace power supplies, interpret computer codes.
- Ability to integrate information from multiple sources.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license required; variable travel depends on primary site.
- 2-year degree in technical/electronics field or equivalent, or two years equivalent experience (waived with Trimedx Trained Certification or equivalent biomedical certification).
- 3 months experience with biomedical equipment in a clinical engineering environment preferred.
- Travel may be required based on customer/business needs.
