Experienced High-Energy Solid State Laser Technician

To support our expanding operations, we are currently seeking candidates for our Bozeman, Montana site.
JOB SUMMARYThis experienced-level position assembles, tests and integrates high-energy solid state pulsed laser systems according to product specifications.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- System level integration and testing of high-power pulsed laser systems.
- Provide feedback to Manufacture Engineering for system design improvements and improvements in production efficiency.
- Communicates critical production information to other group leads and Production Manager.
- Provides manufacturing / integration status updates.
- Supports Customer Service and Engineering as requested.
- Responsible for ensuring lab equipment is in calibration.
- Performs peer review and final inspection on laser systems.
- Follow safety protocols and keep lab area clean to 5S standards.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Physics, Engineering, related technology, Associate’s degree or 5 years’ experience in a related field.
- 3 years of experience in a related field and hands on experience with flashlamp and diode pumped solid state lasers.
- Proficient in using oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, power meters and other laser diagnostic equipment.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot laser systems and implement solutions.
- Ability to interpret optical and mechanical component specifications.
- Ability to read, interpret and follow assembly drawings and work instructions.
- Demonstrated ability in the assembly and integration of laser systems.
- Experience with the following types of laser systems is preferred:
- High-energy – 2.0J+ - pulsed laser systems.
- Non-linear optic / multi wavelength laser systems.
- Seeded laser systems.
- OPO (optical parametric oscillators).
- Experience with electrical troubleshooting is preferred.
- Able to meet the essential functions listed above.
- Knowledge of software applications such as Word, Excel and Power Point.
- Position requires that the person have good close–up vision (color vision, depth perception and ability to focus), mental concentration and dexterity to be able to handle and identify small components.
- This position may require standing for more than four hours at a time.
- Limited lifting of 50 lbs or less is required.
