JobOverview
A CDL VIN Specialist is a public‑facing, customer‑service driven position. Duties include issuing commercial driver’s licenses, overseeing the testing of those licenses, and ensuring the safety and well‑being of Montana citizens by confirming proper identification documents, successful completion of tests, and determining when additional documentation is required. The incumbent must be willing and able to work outdoors in inclement weather and travel to other exam stations 1–2 days a week, lifting up to 25 pounds.
Responsibilities- Issue commercial driver’s licenses.
- Oversee the testing of licenses.
- Confirm proper identification documents and successful completion of tests.
- Determine when additional documentation is required.
- Work outdoors in inclement weather and travel to other exam stations as needed.
- Lift up to 25 pounds.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- One year experience working with computerized data systems.
- One year customer service experience.
- One year cash handling experience.
- Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) for testing and training purposes within the first year.
The selection procedures to evaluate applicants may include, but are not limited to, an evaluation of the résumé, a structured interview, performance test, academic transcripts, reference/background checks, and fingerprint checks.
