Position SummaryThe Facility Inspector 1 is responsible for licensing and inspecting a wide range of facilities including mental health, youth care, community homes for persons with developmental and physical disabilities, chemical dependency facilities, private residential and outdoor programs, and various health care facilities. The role includes conducting unannounced inspections, assessing compliance with state and federal regulations, recommending licensing actions, monitoring facilities that struggle with compliance, investigating allegations of non‑compliance, and providing technical assistance and training to licensed facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct licensing and inspection of diverse facilities.
- Perform unannounced inspections to assess care and compliance.
- Recommend licensing actions based on inspection findings.
- Monitor facilities with compliance challenges.
- Investigate allegations of non‑compliance.
- Provide technical assistance and training.
- Strong investigative skills.
- Knowledge of state government operations, rules, policies, and legislative processes.
- Ability to make logical, systematic decisions that consider impact on others.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in social or behavioral sciences (e.g., social work, psychology, sociology, family and consumer sciences, human services, education).
- One year of job–related work experience, or comparable education/experience.
Competitive hourly wage of $31.55. Benefits include health insurance, paid leave and holidays, and retirement plan. Telework eligibility is available under supervisor approval (not full‑time). The position requires 50% travel.

Helena; additional locations:
Butte, Missoula. Full‑time regular schedule, day shift.
