Job Description

This is a 13-week contract position.

4-10s Weekdays and On Call

The Surgical Technologist functions in the role of scrub person, working under the supervision of the surgeon and the registered nurse (R.N.) to ensure a safe operating room environment and the proper functioning of equipment. This role is critical to maximizing patient safety during invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.

• Assure completion of case carts according to preference cards.
• Recognize and interpret preference cards for procuring instruments and supplies.
• Communicate clearly with operating room staff and sterile processing staff to coordinate instrumentation for scheduled and non-scheduled cases.
• Review daily schedule with the charge nurse and day coordinator of sterile processing, identifying potential turnover delays and scheduling issues.
• Manage core phone communications and coordinate breaks and lunches with relevant individuals.
• Act as a resource for the departments of SPD and Surgical Services for the procurement of necessary items for surgical procedures.
• Coordinate with materials management regarding supply utilization and deployment.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or an equivalent military surgical technologist program
• American Heart Association BLS Certification
