The Specialty Pharmacist – Oncology will practice within the defined specialty supporting advancement in oncology across ambulatory and inpatient settings. Provides knowledge and expertise for oncology treatment plans, protocol development, quality and safety metric reporting, and education. Supports high-risk, weight-based, collaborates on formulary optimization, and advances safe, effective, and compliant medication use across the continuum of care.

** Practices within a defined specialty (e.g., Pediatrics/Neonatal and Infectious Diseases) to deliver advanced pharmacotherapy, therapeutic drug monitoring, and longitudinal care coordination across inpatient and ambulatory settings. Provides patient‐specific recommendations, participates in daily specialty rounds, and contributes to antimicrobial stewardship through protocol development, regulatory reporting, and education. Supports high-risk, weight-based, and age-specific dosing (including parenteral nutrition for pediatric/neonatal patients), collaborates on formulary optimization, and advances safe, effective, and compliant medication use across the continuum of care.

* Required:

*** Bachelors of Science or Doctorate of Pharmacy (Pharm

D).
* Current Montana Pharmacist license, or eligibility to obtain licensure upon hire.
* Current Board Certification in area of specialty (e.g., BCIDP, BCOP, BCPPS, BCACP) or ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire.
* Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire.
* American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or ability to obtain within ninety (90) days of hire.
* PGY1 pharmacy residency or two (2) years of directly related specialty experience.
** Preferred:
*** PGY2 Residency in area of specialty or three (three) years of experience in specialty.
* Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) for pediatric/neonatal practice areas.
* Experience with antimicrobial stewardship (e.g., dashboards, reporting, antibiogram).
* Experience with pediatric/neonatal dosing and parenteral nutrition.

* Essential Job Functions:

** In addition to the essential functions of the job listed below, employees must have on-time completion of all required education as assigned per DNV requirements, Bozeman Health policy, and other registry requirements.
* Conducts daily rounds and patient reviews in assigned specialty area(s); assesses therapy for indication, effectiveness, safety, and adherence; documents interventions and plans of care.
* Evaluates and verifies medication orders for therapeutic appropriateness, dosing accuracy (including weight-/age-based dosing), interactions, allergies, and therapeutic duplication; clarifies orders when needed.
* Performs therapeutic drug monitoring and pharmacokinetic consults; interprets labs and clinical trends to adjust therapy per evidence-based guidelines.
* For pediatric/neonatal populations, assesses nutritional/pharmacotherapy needs and collaborates on parenteral nutrition management and related monitoring.
* Participates in antimicrobial stewardship activities (e.g., partnering with AMS team, regulatory reporting, EHR dashboard review, project design/implementation) to optimize antimicrobial use and outcomes.
* Collaborates with infection prevention and specialty providers to maintain and apply the institutional antibiogram; conducts targeted formulary and utilization reviews to promote safe, effective, and cost-conscious therapy.
* Develops, updates, and educates on specialty pathways, protocols, and order sets; provides drug information and just-in-time education to interprofessional teams.
* Educates patients and caregivers on complex regimens, administration techniques (e.g., devices), adverse effects, and adherence strategies; coordinates transitions of care across inpatient, clinic, infusion, and specialty distribution.
