Experience:

Two (2) years of post-graduation experience in advanced ultrasound practice reflecting registration status. Preferred five (5) years of post-graduation experience.

License:
American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in a minimum of one category - OB/Gyn or Abdomen/Small Parts.

Certifications:

American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography certification in a minimum of one advanced category (Fetal Echocardiography, Breast, Pediatrics, or Registered Vascular Technology, Musculoskeletal) or ten years of experience in advanced practice with a commitment to obtain advanced registry within one year of hire. American Heart Association BLS within 60 days of hire.

Description:

The Acute Care Sonographer II provides health care services in ultrasound to assist in diagnosis or treatment.
Performs ultrasound procedures and related techniques, producing images for interpretation by a licensed practitioner.
Primarily works independently in a highly complex, acute care inpatient setting.
Employees must have on-time completion of all required education.
Perform ultrasound exams and procedures in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Assist the physician and other medical staff during exams and procedures.
Complete documentation of all information required for proper interpretation, reporting, archiving, and retrieval of exams.
Perform ancillary duties as required to maintain proper distribution, billing, and archival of exams and procedures.
Retrieve and review previous studies, reports, written orders, and related health information to ensure timely performance and reporting of ultrasound exams and procedures.
Participate in the implementation, monitoring, and improvement of the organization's quality indicators.
Exercises tact, discretion, and sensitivity while maintaining confidentiality.
Learn current and new computer applications and office equipment utilized.
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are required.
Analyze, organize, and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines.

This role requires regular and sustained attendance, with possible work beyond a standard 40-hour workweek.
On-call work may be required to respond promptly to organizational, patient, or employee needs.

Physical Requirements:

Exerting force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects or people.
Maintaining a sitting posture for extended periods and adjusting body position to prevent discomfort or strain.
Standing and walking involves maintaining good balance and coordination.
Climbing, twisting, bending, and stooping require flexibility and a wide range of motion.
Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects above shoulder level requires strength and stability.
Using upper extremities to exert force repeatedly is necessary.
Continuous fine-finger movements for tasks like typing or picking are required.
Close visual acuity is essential for preparing and analyzing data.
Cognitive skills for learning new tasks and making decisions in the workflow are required.

Exposures may include blood borne pathogens, radiation, chemicals, and infectious diseases.
Emotionally challenging situations may arise.
