CT Technologist Position Summary
The Acute Care Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist provides essential health care services by assisting in diagnosis and treatment. This role involves performing CT procedures and related techniques to produce images for interpretation by licensed practitioners. The Technologist operates a CT scanner, utilizing knowledge of imaging techniques and cross-sectional anatomy to generate high-quality images for medical professionals. Responsibilities also include modifying technical settings, adjusting scanning parameters to enhance images, and minimizing unnecessary exposure.
Minimum Qualifications- Graduate of a Committee of Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) accredited Radiology program or equivalent.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) R.T.(R) and advanced registry in CT, R.T.(CT).
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Two (2) years of radiology experience as a registered technologist.
- One (1) year of previous CT experience in a trauma center (level I or II).
- Performs CT exams and procedures for various departments including NICU, CCU, and ED as requested by medical staff.
- Assists Radiologists and other medical staff during exams and procedures.
- Handles ancillary duties related to the distribution, billing, and archiving of exams and procedures.
- Completes documentation necessary for the interpretation, reporting, archiving, and retrieval of exams.
- Retrieves written orders and relevant health information to ensure timely performance and reporting of exams.
- Engages in the implementation and monitoring of quality indicators as outlined in the strategic plan.
- Works independently in a highly complex acute care inpatient setting.
- Trains and supports peers as needed.
- Demonstrates sound judgment and maintains a professional demeanor at all times.
- Exercises discretion and sensitivity while maintaining confidentiality.
- Successfully performs essential functions in a busy and stressful environment.
- Proficient in learning current and new computer applications and office equipment.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines.
- Willingness to work various shifts and participate in a call rotation as scheduled.
- Lifting, pushing, and pulling:
Ability to support 50 pounds of weight and lift 50 pounds as needed. - Extended hours:
May require sitting, walking, or standing for eight or more hours daily. - Flexible schedule:
Position may necessitate working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and evening shifts. - Effective communication skills required for interactions with patients and families.
