CT Technologist Position Summary

The Acute Care Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist provides essential health care services by assisting in the diagnosis or treatment of patients. This role involves performing CT procedures and related techniques to produce high-quality images used for interpretation by licensed practitioners. The technologist operates a CT scanner to acquire images essential for diagnosing and treating various patient pathologies while ensuring minimal exposure to radiation.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduate of a Committee of Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) accredited Radiology program or equivalent.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification in Radiography (R.T.(R)) and an advanced registry in Computed Tomography (R.T.(CT)).
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of radiology experience as a registered technologist.
  • Preferred:
    One year of previous CT experience in a trauma center (level I or II).
Essential Job Functions
  • Perform CT exams and procedures for various hospital departments as requested by medical staff.
  • Assist radiologists and other medical staff during examinations and procedures.
  • Execute ancillary duties to maintain proper distribution, billing, and archival of exams and procedures.
  • Document all relevant information for the accurate interpretation, reporting, archiving, and retrieval of exams.
  • Ensure timely performance and reporting of exams by retrieving written orders and related health information.
  • Engage in the implementation, monitoring, and enhancement of quality indicators as outlined in the strategic plan.
  • Work independently in a complex, acute care inpatient setting.
  • Provide training and support to peers as necessary.

  • Demonstrates sound judgment, patience, and professionalism at all times.
  • Exercises tact, discretion, and sensitivity while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Effectively performs job functions in a busy and high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to learn current and new computer applications and office equipment.
  • Possesses strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Skilled in analyzing, organizing, and prioritizing work while meeting multiple deadlines.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts as needed.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull 50 pounds, including assisting patients and transferring equipment.
  • Capability to work extended hours, involving sitting, walking, or standing for eight or more hours daily.
  • Willingness to work beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts.
Exposures

Job tasks may involve exposure to:

  • Bloodborne pathogens such as blood, bodily fluids, or tissues.
  • Radiation in environments where medical imaging procedures are conducted.
  • Chemicals and medications used in healthcare settings, including cleaning products and disinfectants.
  • Infectious diseases due to patient contact in areas that may host contagious illnesses.
  • Emotionally challenging situations, including interactions with distressed patients or families.
Holiday Coverage Required

Holiday coverage may be required as part of the role.
