Data Governance Specialist
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Governance Specialist to lead and support our enterprise data governance initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in defining governance frameworks, developing roadmaps, and partnering with business and technical teams to ensure data quality, consistency, and compliance across the organization.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a comprehensive data governance strategy aligned with organizational goals.
- Create and maintain a detailed data governance roadmap, outlining key milestones, maturity goals, and implementation steps.
- Establish and manage data governance policies, standards, and processes.
- Work closely with business stakeholders and technical teams to define data ownership, data stewardship, and data quality requirements.
- Support metadata management, data cataloging, data lineage, and classification initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve data quality, resolve data issues, and promote best practices.
- Conduct regular assessments of governance processes and recommend enhancements.
- Prepare documentation, reports, and dashboards on data governance metrics and progress.
- Stay current with industry trends and evolving regulatory requirements (e.g., privacy, security, compliance).
Skills & Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or related fields.
- Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, best practices, and data lifecycle management.
- Experience defining governance strategy and roadmap for enterprise environments.
- Hands‑on experience with metadata management, data cataloging, data quality tools, or MDM solutions.
- Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements related to data.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across business and technical teams.
- Experience with Microsoft Purview (strong plus).
- Experience in large enterprise or public‑sector data governance programs.
Location:
Remote (Prepared to travel to New York/Washington DC as needed for key meetings, workshops, and project activities)
