We are seeking a highly skilled Jira Senior Developer to lead the design, development, customization, and administration of Jira and associated Atlassian tools. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Jira workflows, plugin development, system integrations, and Exalate-based cross-platform synchronization. This role will work closely with developers, architects, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable solutions, streamline processes, and ensure the stability and efficiency of the Atlassian ecosystem.
The position also includes technical leadership responsibilities such as mentoring junior team members, providing advanced troubleshooting, and promoting Atlassian best practices across the organization.
- Design, develop, and maintain complex Jira workflows, custom fields, screens, permission schemes, and notification schemes.
- Create and manage project templates to standardize project setup across teams.
- Develop custom Jira plugins and add-ons to enhance platform functionality.
- Integrate Jira with third-party systems and internal tools using REST APIs, webhooks, Exalate, and other integration methods.
- Design, implement, and maintain Exalate-based synchronization solutions for secure, bi-directional issue and data replication between Jira and external systems (Service Now).
- Create and manage Exalate connection rules, sync rules, filters, and field-mapping strategies using Groovy scripting to transform and synchronize issue fields, attachments, comments, worklogs, links, and custom fields across systems.
- Monitor Exalate sync jobs, diagnose sync errors and conflicts, and implement corrective actions or reconciliation processes to ensure data consistency and reliability.
- Evaluate and recommend Exalate configuration patterns for multi-project, cross-company, and enterprise synchronization use cases while meeting security, compliance, and performance requirements.
- Administer and maintain Jira and other Atlassian tools such as Confluence, including performance tuning, system upgrades, and license management.
- Ensure platform reliability, data integrity, scalability, and secure synchronization governance.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior developers and administrators.
- Conduct code reviews and promote adherence to Atlassian development best practices.
- Automate workflows and repetitive tasks using built-in Jira features, Exalate rules, or custom scripts.
- Analyze existing processes and identify opportunities for improvement across the Atlassian suite and integrated platforms.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex incidents, bugs, defects, and synchronization issues within SLA timelines.
- Provide advanced support to users, project administrators, and development teams.
- Work closely with developers, product owners, project managers, and architects to gather requirements and deliver effective Jira-based and integration-led solutions.
- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation covering customizations, workflows, integrations, Exalate sync designs, field-mapping matrices, runbooks, and SDLC processes.
- Ensure Exalate synchronizations conform to security, data privacy, and tenancy policies, including data filtering, field-level restrictions, and controlled change management for sync rule updates.
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong experience with Jira and Confluence administration, configuration, customization, and development.
- Proven hands‑on experience with Exalate configuration and administration, including creating connection rules, sync rules, filters, and mapping strategies.
- Proficiency in scripting and development using Java, Python, Groovy, REST APIs, and related technologies for plugin and integration development.
- Strong knowledge of Exalate architecture, connectors, synchronization patterns, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Experience mapping complex custom fields, issue types, workflows, attachments, comments, worklogs, and links across systems while preserving auditability and business context.
