Data Systems Manager

Overview

Montana State University is hiring a Data Systems Manager. The role involves developing and administering application services across Financial Aid, Finance, Human Resources, Student Services, and Accounts Receivable functional areas at all four MSU campuses. The manager will lead application administration for the Banner ERP software, ensure system performance and security, and coordinate closely with business analysts and stakeholders.

• Manage application system administration and development for Ellucian Banner and related applications.
• Administer application security, perform patching, upgrades, and troubleshoot application issues.
• Plan and implement technical tasks, monitor system progress, and report status to management.
• Provide system administration and support for web applications including Banner, Degree Works, and Tomcat.
• Follow university information security policies and assist in managing database risk and operational integrity.
• Coordinate with business analysts and stakeholders to align IT services with academic and administrative goals.

• Required skills:
  
  experience with Linux/Windows OS, scripting (Shell, SQL, PL/SQL), web application servers (Oracle Weblogic, Tomcat, JBoss, Apache, IIS).
• Preferred experience with Ellucian Banner upgrades, Tomcat administration, and knowledge of Banner and Degree Works infrastructure.
• A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.

• Salary range: $69,875 to $74,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
• Position involves periodic on-call and after-hours support.
• Reports to Lead Database Administrator within the VP for Information Technology division.
