Custodian Pool

Custodian I - Full Time (Applicant Pool)

Applications are being accepted for the custodial pool at MSU! There are a variety of shifts in departments across the campus:
Facilities Services, Culinary Services, Family & Graduate Housing, Residence Life, Sports Facilities, Strand Union.

• Cleaning areas (including restrooms)
• Carpeted and hard-surface floor care
• Trash removal
• Room set‑ups
• Other related duties

• Experience with custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, etc.
• Experience working effectively with minimal or no supervision.

• Experience providing excellent customer service.
• Certifications, classes completed, or knowledge of safety procedures utilized in a custodial, janitorial or housekeeping position.

• Be able to positively and professionally perform all the functions of the position
• Consistently exercise initiative and good judgment
• Effectively and safely operate work‑related equipment and tools
• Accurately follow written and oral instructions and procedures
• Exhibit strong communication skills
• Work effectively and efficiently in close cooperation with staff in a team‑oriented environment
• Be able to complete multiple tasks in a timely manner
• Quickly adapt to changing priorities
• Possess strong organizational skills
• Maintain excellent customer service
• Be highly motivated and work with minimal supervision
• Have excellent attention to detail
• Represent the department and MSU to others in a professional and courteous manner

• Moving up to 50 lbs, and occasionally up to 100 lbs
• Moving items such as stacking chairs, folding tables, setting up portable stages, carrying floor sealer, etc. up and down stairs
• Moving up and down stairs, ladders
• Stationary or moving about for extended periods of time
• Gripping handles on cleaning equipment
• Regular exposure to cleaning solutions.
