Production Machinist
The Production Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating machining equipment, both CNC and manual, to produce precision silicon and germanium components in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions. This role supports on-time delivery of conforming products while maintaining compliance with ISO quality management system requirements and applicable ITAR regulations.
This position is on SWING SHIFT: 3:00pm - 11:30pm;
Monday - Friday
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform assigned duties in accordance with documented procedures, work instructions, travelers, and safety requirements
- Set up and operate machining equipment (CNC and/or Manual) to manufacture silicon and germanium components to specified tolerances
- Load, verify, and run approved CNC programs in accordance with production documentation
- Perform in-process inspections using appropriate measurement tools to verify product conformance
- Monitor machining processes and make approved adjustments within defined limits to maintain part quality
- Identify, document, and segregate nonconforming product in accordance with established procedures
- Maintain part identification, traceability, and status throughout the manufacturing process
- Complete production and quality records accurately and in accordance with document control requirements
- Perform routine machine maintenance and housekeeping in accordance with preventive maintenance and 5S practices
- Communicate production, quality, or equipment issues to appropriate personnel in a timely manner
- Support continuous improvement activities as assigned
- Adhere to all quality, safety, information security, and ITAR compliance requirements
- Actively participate in and maintain 5S standards (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) on the production floor to ensure a clean, organized, and safe work environment that supports efficient daily operations.
Work Experience &
Skills:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or machinist certification preferred
Experience:
Minimum 3-5 years of experience operating CNC and/or manual machining equipment; experience machining materials such as silicon and/or germanium preferred
Required Skills / Knowledge:
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, and specifications
- Extensive knowledge of CNC and/or manual machining processes, tooling, and fixturing
- Experience with precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
- Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, safety procedures, and quality control
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with shop floor data collection systems
Preferred Skills / Knowledge:
- Experience with Optical curve generators, grinders or shapers
- Experience programming CNC operations
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems

- Ability to wear required PPE
- Ability to safely handle delicate, brittle, and sharp materials using approved techniques
- Ability to work assigned shifts, including overtime as required
