Program / Project Manager, Operations Manager
Overview
The Vice President of Programs and Operations is the chief steward of MCC’s corps member development programs, who builds on core program strengths to foster continuous improvement. The VP also ensures that MCC’s conservation services respond to the needs of our diverse project partners. This senior leader guides the program staff, shepherding a culture of learning, care and belonging, while maintaining daily operations and overseeing the professional conduct and development of program staff.
The role implements decisions and translates high level goals into tangible actions with positive results. The VP oversees the preparation, reporting and evaluation of Ameri Corps grants and programs, and supports MCC’s advocacy for national service and other federal or state programs impacting MCC operations. As a senior leader at MCC reporting to the President/CEO, this position works closely with the VP of Finance and Administration and MCC’s other directors to support excellence in operations, finance, HR, and philanthropy, and must maintain good working relations with all MCC staff, the board of directors, external consultants and partners, and MCC participants.

ABOUT MONTANA CONSERVATION CORPS
Montana Conservation Corps is a nonprofit organization that engages youth and young adults through hands-on conservation service and education. Our participants serve on physically demanding and essential natural resource and conservation projects on some of the most breathtaking landscapes in the Northern Rockies and Plains. Here at MCC, we focus on the growth of our participants, positively impacting our public lands, and transferable career skills.
MCC offers crew-based programming that uses natural resource and community service projects to foster personal and crew development. Our main goal is not to build trails but to help members develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to be active citizens in their community. Through a term of service with MCC, participants will learn practical career skills, build confidence, strengthen communication and leadership competencies, and develop the ability to collaborate well with people from all walks of life.
Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership:
- Ensure a vision and implementation model for MCC programs - including field crew, individual placement, youth and indigenous programs - in alignment with the mission, values, and resources of the organization and aligned with MCC strategic plans, policies and program framework
- Anticipates the evolving needs of youth and emerging adults, and oversees the maintenance and progression of policies, training, curricula, and operating practices
- Participate in Executive Team meetings with the CEO, and participate in regular management, budget and strategic planning efforts to inform current and long-term planning and management needs
- Guide the development, implementation and reporting on Ameri Corps grant activities, and ensure implementation of external, evidence-based evaluations.
- Oversee risk management and compliance with OSHA standards and associated reporting
- Oversee the development and implementation of program evaluations for continuous improvement
- Provide input to MCC’s fundraising team to inform philanthropy initiatives
- Attend MCC Board meetings, contribute to board agendas, provide periodic reports to the board of directors, and facilitate select board committees
