This position is full-time. HRDC also offers flexible schedules and a "reduced work week", which encourages full-time staff to use up to 4 paid hours weekly for their personal wellness.

Wage: $26.00/hour

General Summary of Purpose of this Position:

Oversees the coordination of approximately 70 weekly volunteers and many special work groups. Provides volunteer training and orientation to the Food Bank operations. Instructs work group members in necessary tasks and procedures to be completed. Works to develop a spirit of cooperation and teamwork among Food Bank volunteers in assisting those in need of food assistance. This position has the responsibility of keeping the Food Bank volunteers informed and maintaining a professional representation of the Food Bank at all times.

There is a shared responsibility in keeping the facility and food supply safe and sanitary. This position requires facilitating some scheduled evening volunteer opportunities. Additional duties as assigned.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities

1. Volunteer Coordination (70%)

• Schedule and recruit volunteers to assist with the Gallatin Valley Food Bank’s operations.
• Provide comprehensive training and orientation for volunteers for a variety of tasks involving the warehouse, kitchen, and store.
• Instruct work group members in necessary tasks and execution of proper procedures.
• Develop a spirit of cooperation and understanding among volunteers and work group members.
• Create a sense of belonging for volunteers, recognizing them during special events, such as birthdays, and checking in on them during illnesses, life events, etc
• Represent the Food Bank while recruiting volunteers, including public speaking events, tours of the facility, and outreach to service clubs, businesses, churches, and schools.
• Generate job descriptions for the various volunteer roles at the food bank.
• In collaboration with the Childhood Nutritions Coordinator and Communications team, create communication channels, including updating the Information Board, to inform volunteers of HRDC events and other volunteer opportunities.
• Enter, track, and report on volunteer hours in a timely manner.
• Document required training needed and received.

2. Warehouse Assistance (20%)

• Assists with daily warehouse tasks.
• Maintain projects for volunteers such as stocking, sorting, and assisting clients.
• Work with Warehouse Coordinator to ensure product rotation and food supply safety.
• Maintain facility safety and organization.
• Work with staff and volunteers in providing a safe and sanitary working environment.

3. Communication and Special Events (5%)

• Work with donors and partner agencies.
• Accept and record food donations from the public and provide receipts as needed.
• Provides additional support in meeting staffing and volunteer needs for seasonal efforts across programs, including food drives, special events, and November food distribution.
