Nurse Educator
Overview
Part‑time Non‑Tenure Track (NTT) faculty are hired to teach undergraduate and/or graduate nursing courses in the Mark and Robyn Jones College of Nursing. Faculty staff are located at one of the College’s five campuses (Bozeman, Billings, Great Falls, Kalispell, or Missoula) and work collaboratively with students, colleagues and clinical agencies to advance teaching, curriculum development, and professional development.
Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate and/or graduate nursing courses using active learning, simulation, online, distance‑delivered, and clinical instruction.
- Engage in service or outreach activities to support the college’s mission.
- Maintain ongoing professional development, including attendance at professional meetings and keeping current with nursing literature.
- Participate in meetings across the five‑campus system and, for full‑time faculty (.5 FTE or greater), travel to Bozeman at least twice a year.
- Comply with all health standards for clinical agencies and the State Board of Nursing rules for practice of professional nursing in Montana.
- Adhere to university and college policies, professional nursing standards, and local agency requirements for clinical teaching or service activities.
- Unencumbered RN license to practice nursing in Montana.
- BSN or Master’s degree in nursing.
- For DNP program teaching: APRN license in Montana and current certification as an Advanced Practice RN in psychiatric mental health or family nurse practitioner.
- Demonstrated clinical competence in the interested teaching area.
- Experience working effectively in a collegial team environment.
- Proficiency using information technology to prepare and deliver instructional materials.
- Experience engaging diverse students and colleagues.
- For DNP program teaching: earned DNP degree in nursing.
- For BSN program teaching:
Master’s degree in nursing. - Experience teaching college and/or adult learners.
- Advanced use of technology beyond basic computer skills.
- Experience using simulation technology for teaching and learning.
- Demonstrated commitment to student, faculty, and staff diversity.
- Demonstrate a commitment to nursing education and student success.
- Possess strong interpersonal skills and collaborate with faculty, staff, and clinical partners.
- Exhibit excellent written and oral communication.
- Use engaging pedagogy that incorporates educational innovations.
- Work independently and in team‑oriented settings.
- Maintain confidentiality of student and patient information.
- Represent the college and university in a positive manner.
- Support and enhance the university’s initiatives for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
