About the Position

Northern Nevada Medical Center (NNMC), a comprehensive healthcare provider in Sparks, Nevada, is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Emergency Department on a full‑time basis. As a key member of our skilled nursing team, you will provide high‑quality, compassionate care to patients presenting with a wide range of emergent and urgent medical conditions. In this role, you will perform rapid assessment and triage of patients, prioritize care based on acuity, and collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement effective care plans. You will administer medications, start and manage IVs, monitor vital signs and cardiac rhythms, perform wound care, support trauma and medical resuscitations, and assist with procedures commonly performed in a busy Emergency Department.

Utilizing evidence‑based practices and established protocols, you will ensure safe, timely, and accurate nursing interventions for both adult and pediatric patients.

As an Emergency Department RN, you will play an essential role in maintaining a collaborative and supportive culture by actively participating in handoffs, huddles, and team debriefs; providing education and emotional support to patients and families during stressful and sometimes critical situations; and maintaining meticulous, timely documentation in the electronic medical record. You will adhere strictly to infection prevention practices, medication safety standards, and hospital policies while contributing to ongoing quality improvement initiatives.

You will be expected to demonstrate strong critical‑thinking skills, the ability to remain calm and focused under pressure, and a high degree of professionalism in fast‑paced, high‑acuity situations. The role requires effective time management, adaptability to fluctuating patient volumes, and comfort working with advanced medical equipment such as cardiac monitors, defibrillators, EKG machines, and infusion pumps. NNMC provides structured onboarding, preceptorship, and continuing education to support your professional growth within emergency nursing.

The position is full‑time and on‑site in the Emergency Department, with scheduling that may include day, evening, night, weekend, and holiday shifts to meet the needs of our patients and community.
