Position: LPN or Medical Assistant - 36 Hours Weekly - Baxter Pediatric Clinic

Job Overview

Essentia Health is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse or Certified Medical Assistant to serve in the pediatric practice at our Baxter Clinic in Baxter, Minnesota. This LPN or CMA works 36 hours weekly. Shifts are 7:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. A $2,500 sign‑on incentive is available for this position.

Education as required for licensure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assists RN, physician and other providers and provides direct patient care in the ambulatory care setting to contribute to meeting the mission and goals of Essentia Health.
  • Performs identified procedures for which competencies have been demonstrated.
  • Cares for patients ranging in age from newborn to elderly as noted on age‑related category.
  • Patient care and monitoring:
    Performs routine assessments such as measuring vital signs, recording patient histories, and observing symptoms to assist in diagnosing and monitoring patient health.
  • Assisting with procedures:
    Supports physicians and nurse practitioners during examinations and minor procedures by preparing equipment, assisting with patient positioning, and ensuring proper infection control.
  • Medication administration:
    Administers prescribed medications, including injections and oral drugs, and monitors patients for any adverse reactions or side effects, ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Coordination of care:
    Collaborates with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans and assists in coordinating follow‑up appointments and referrals.
  • Patient intake and preparation:
    Conducts initial patient intake processes, including gathering medical histories, updating personal information, and preparing patients for examination or diagnostic testing.
Qualifications
  • LPN:
    Current LPN licensure of the state of Minnesota upon hire.
  • CMA:
    Current registration or certification as a Medical Assistant or verifiable completion of a Medical Assistant Program and must become certified within one year of date of hire. Must pass certification within two attempts.
  • BOTH: AHA Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within 3 months of hire.
  • FTE: 0.9
  • Shift rotation:
    Day rotation (United States of America)
  • Shift start time: 7:30 am;
    Shift end time: 5:00 pm
  • Weekends:

  • Compensation range: $21.72 – $32.58
