The Registered Nurse
- Device Clinical RN assists providers and staff in the delivery and coordination of patient care. This role facilitates patient satisfaction, clinic efficiency, and provider productivity. The position is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care. Collaboration and cooperation with other members of the healthcare team are essential. Registered Nurses plan and implement patient and family education. The role includes interrogating cardiac implantable electronic devices and monitoring patient responses.
Adjusting device settings according to provider orders is also required. Management of remote device monitoring and troubleshooting device-related concerns are key responsibilities. Follow-up care arrangements for patients receiving services through the Device Clinic will be coordinated by the nurse. Maintaining patient records and databases to support accurate documentation and continuity of care is essential. Diagnostic tests and treatments will be performed as ordered, including electrocardiograms and Holter monitors.
Scheduling surgical and procedural interventions related to cardiac devices will be managed by the nurse. Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care for patients with devices undergoing various interventions is necessary. The nurse will ensure cleanliness and organization in examination and treatment areas. Assessing and coordinating care for walk-in and urgent patient needs within the clinic is a critical function.
Providing education and support to patients and families regarding device therapy is required. Participation in quality improvement and regulatory compliance initiatives is essential for effective patient care. Candidates must demonstrate sound judgment, patience, and professional demeanor. The ability to exercise tact, discretion, and maintain confidentiality is a must. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are important. Organizational and prioritization skills while meeting multiple deadlines are necessary.
Frequent lifting, repetitive walking, standing, and fine finger movements are required. Close visual acuity and cognitive skills are necessary for successful performance in this role. Exposure to blood borne pathogens, radiation, and various chemicals is a part of the job. Emotional resilience is important for dealing with distressed patients or difficult family interactions.
