Summer is almost here, and the City of Bozeman is now recruiting for Short Term Workers for the Parks Division! Want to get outdoors and into the community this summer? This position could be perfect for you! Join our team and spend the summer maintaining our beautiful parks throughout the City, keeping local trails and facilities clean and clear, and enjoying the fresh air!
We are looking for candidates who can commit to the entire season. Ideally, employees in this position will be available to start working at the end of April or early May and stay on through the end of August.
Calling all early birds! The schedule for this position will be 4/10s: 6am to 4:30pm with a 3-day weekend every weekend!
Bargaining Unit: Not Represented
Fair Labor Standards Act Status: Non‑Exempt
Work Week: Monday - Friday 7:00am – 3:30pm with a 30‑minute lunch break. Full‑time, 40 hours/week.
Length of Season: Ideally early to mid‑May – end of August, 2026.
Assignment Details: Not to exceed 90 working days or 520 hours, whichever comes first.
- Maintains parks in clean and safe condition, including picking up trash and maintaining trash and dog station receptacles, and cleaning and repairing restrooms.
- Mows, trims, weeds, edges, fertilizes, and waters lawns, parks, and other landscaped areas in City parks and trails.
- Maintains structures such as buildings, restrooms, park shelters, picnic tables, signs, benches, fences, etc.
- Operates a variety of hand tools, power tools, and other parks equipment related to work assignments as instructed.
- Responds to citizens’ questions and comments in a courteous and timely manner.
- Communicates and coordinates regularly with appropriate others to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of interdepartmental operations and activities.
- Performs other directly related duties as assigned.
- Some related landscaping or maintenance experience is preferred but not required.
- High School Diploma or GED by employment start date.
- This position requires operation of a company vehicle; candidates must be 18 years of age or older and meet all company driving eligibility requirements.
- Must possess a valid Class D driver’s license.
- Offers for employment are conditional upon satisfactory responses to appropriate post conditional offer process.
