In this hands‑on role, you’ll work outdoors maintaining cemetery grounds, supporting funeral services, and ensuring visitors experience a respectful, well‑kept environment.

Fair Labor Standards Act Status: Non‑Exempt
Work Week: Monday through Friday 7:00am – 3:00pm. Full‑Time, 40 hours/week.
Length of Season: Ideally late April - end of August 2026, with flexibility on either side depending on availability.
Assignment Details: Not to exceed 90 working days or 520 hours, whichever comes first.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Maintains cemetery grounds including mowing, fertilizing, raking leaves and pine needles, trimming hedges, bushes, and trees, and watering as directed.
- Performs irrigation tasks, including irrigating large areas of developed cemetery lands, connecting sprinkler heads, moving and setting up sprinkler lines and hoses.
- Loads and hauls organic material to a compost pile.
- Assists year‑round Cemetery staff with the funeral process, including digging, settling, compacting, sodding, and hand watering.
- Utilizes City vehicles including pickup trucks, water trucks, and other Cemetery equipment.
- Operates a variety of hand and power tools in a safe manner.
- Interacts with the public and responds to questions and comments in a courteous and timely manner, including referring citizens to designated personnel.
- Communicates and coordinates regularly with appropriate others to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of interdepartmental operations and activities.
- Performs other directly related duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED by employment start date.
- This position requires operation of a company vehicle; candidates must be 18 years of age or older and meet all company driving eligibility requirements.
- Some related landscaping or maintenance experience is preferred but not required.
- Offers for employment are conditional upon satisfactory completion of the conditional offer process including, but not limited to, a driving record history check, criminal background check, thorough reference checks, and a general internet search.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and/or written policies, procedures, and instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing, using both technical and non‑technical language.
- Ability to work outdoors for extended periods of times with exposure to varying weather conditions.
- Ability and willingness to quickly learn and put to use new skills and knowledge brought about by rapidly changing information and/or technology.
- Demonstrates integrity, ingenuity and inventiveness in the performance of assigned tasks.
