General Statement
- This position will make solutions and perform shared lab duties such as autoclaving, cleaning, waste removal. The position involves reading scientific literature and participating in lab group meetings, as well as collaborating with a part-time undergraduate on a shared project.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Make solutions and perform shared lab duties such as:
Autoclaving, cleaning, waste removal. Read scientific literature and participate in lab group meetings. Collaborate with a part time undergraduate on a shared project. Design and interpret experiments studying the development and regeneration of Drosophila intestine. Perform molecular biology and confocal microscopy assays. Take careful notes, record results, and prepare figures for publication.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in biology. Prior experience in confocal microscopy. Prior experience in making solutions and performing standard molecular biology techniques. Have at least 1 year of experience doing full-time lab work. Must be able to independently plan their daily tasks.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
- Prior experience with Drosophila husbandry and genetic crosses. Interest or experience working on developmental biology. Familiar with intestine anatomy, development, and regeneration.
