Position: USGS Environmental DNA Surveillance and Analyses for Aquatic Invasive Species in National Parks

Position Summary

Research opportunity at USGS, Bozeman, Montana, working with eDNA sampling to detect aquatic invasive species, supporting NPS units such as Grand Teton, Yellowstone, Bighorn National Recreation Area, Dinosaur National Monument, Canyonlands, and Grand Canyon. Training will involve preparing eDNA sample kits, operating autonomous samplers, and laboratory analysis. The appointment is full time, initially 8 weeks, with potential renewal contingent on funding.

Responsibilities
  • Train to prepare eDNA sample kits.
  • Test, deploy, and maintain eDNA autonomous samplers.
  • Collaborate on eDNA laboratory analyses.
  • Support multiple National Park Service units in integrating eDNA sampling into their management toolbox.
Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing or have received a master's degree in relevant fields within the past three years, or expected to receive it by 6/30/2029.
