Position: Facilities Maintenance Technician- Hillcrest (PT- 0.4 FTE, Variable Shift)

Position Summary

The Facilities Maintenance Technician supports safe, reliable, and compliant hospital operations by performing moderately complex preventive maintenance (PM), troubleshooting, and repairs across multiple facilities crafts. The role contributes to survey readiness through utility system checks, life-safety compliance, and water-management activities. Technicians use the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to document work, maintain accurate records, and communicate effectively with clinical and operational partners.

In addition, the position provides mentorship and task-level guidance to Apprentices, fostering skill development and consistency in facilities operations.

Qualifications
  • Three (3) years of facilities maintenance or trades experience; healthcare preferred.
  • Demonstrated competency in at least two (2) crafts (e.g., HVAC and plumbing).
  • Ability to read and interpret prints/schematics and follow written procedures.
  • Proficient in CMMS use with accurate documentation practices.
  • Current EPA 608 Type I/II certification, or ability to obtain within six (6) months.
  • ASHE Health Care Physical Environment Worker (PEW) or Health Care Construction (HCC) certificate within six (6) months of hire.
  • Lockout/tagout (LOTO) qualification; compliance with hot-work permit requirements per policy.
  • Preferred:
    • Experience with hospital life-safety systems (e.g., fire alarm/pump, smoke/fire dampers).
    • Exposure to water-management program tasks/documentation (ASHRAE 188/CDC).
    • Familiarity with medical gas systems; ASSE 6040 within twelve (12) months preferred.
