Field Service Technician – Billings, MT

Sandvik Mining is looking for a Field Service Technician with strong mechanical or electrical background and diagnostic skills.

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain mechanical and electrical components of underground mining equipment.
• Commission new equipment and train customers at sites.
• Inspect equipment for proper performance and determine faults or malfunctions.
• Adjust equipment and replace defective parts, engines, hydraulics, or electrical systems as needed.
• Test repaired equipment to ensure proper operational performance.
• Document activities in time records, technical reports, failure reports, and parts lists.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Stay current with industry developments and technical best practices.
• Build strong relationships with internal and external customers to ensure smooth operations and satisfaction.
• Adhere to Sandvik, customer, state, and federal safety policies.

• Technical certification or diploma in mechanical or electrical fields or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum 7 years of industry related experience.
• Experience working underground, including diesel and high‑voltage electrical systems.
• Demonstrated success in team environments and excellent communication skills.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret equipment schematics.

• Active listening skills.
• Experience with both internal and external customers.
• Flexibility in the workplace.

Billings, MT (some travel to Idaho).

Approximately 50% travel via truck or air; company vehicle provided.

$35.00 to $45.00 per hour.

4 12-hour shifts plus travel time; schedule and hours will vary.
