LocationBozeman, Montana
Key Responsibilities- Lead and complete full residential retrofit HVAC installations including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, ductless mini‑split systems, hot water tanks, and related comfort equipment.

- Install, modify, and fabricate ductwork to properly deliver airflow throughout the home, including trunk‑and‑branch and flex duct systems.
- Run and connect refrigerant line sets, condensate drainage, electrical connections, and thermostat and control wiring on every job.
- Install ductless mini‑split systems including wall mounts, ceiling cassettes, multi‑zone line sets, and proper drainage configurations.

- Commission every installed system before leaving the jobsite: verify airflow, refrigerant charge, superheat and subcooling, safety controls, and proper operation across all modes.
- Identify and communicate any additional needs, scope gaps, or field conditions that could affect system performance or customer satisfaction.
- Apply a strong working knowledge of residential HVAC systems to troubleshoot installation challenges and make real‑time decisions that keep quality high and jobs moving.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals, wiring diagrams, load calculations, and installation guides to execute every job correctly.
- Understand refrigerant handling: recover, evacuate, and recharge systems in full compliance with EPA Section 608 requirements.
- Recognize when a system is performing correctly and when it is not, and take ownership of getting it right before leaving.
- Stay current on equipment, technology, and best practices. Comfort Systems of Montana invests in ongoing training and we expect our people to bring that knowledge into the field.
- Lead install crews on residential retrofit projects, assigning tasks, directing the work, and reviewing workmanship throughout the job.
- Mentor apprentices and junior installers, teaching proper techniques, professional habits, and the standard we hold every install to.
- Hold yourself and your crew to a high bar on quality, cleanliness, and customer interaction at every site.
- Share what you know. A stronger team makes everyone better.
- Communicate clearly with homeowners throughout the installation: explain what is being done, answer questions, and make sure every customer feels confident and taken care of.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe worksite on every project from start to finish. The condition of the jobsite reflects the company.
- Represent Comfort Systems of Montana with professionalism, integrity, and a genuine desire to deliver a great experience on every job.
- Complete accurate job documentation in Service Titan: time logs, materials used, change orders, start‑up checklists, and close‑out sign‑offs.
- Follow all OSHA safety standards, EPA regulations, and manufacturer guidelines on every job.
- 3+ years of hands‑on residential HVAC installation experience with a strong focus on retrofit and changeout work.
- Proven experience installing and commissioning furnaces, central air conditioners, heat pumps, ductless mini‑split systems, and hot water tanks.
