JOB PURPOSE:The role of the Hydronics Project Lead is to lead field techs through the construction process on hydronics jobs. This entails leading by example by working efficiently through the build-up of hydronic systems, setting goals and benchmarks for productivity, holding the crew accountable, assisting crew in interpreting plans, and ensuring that the necessary material and equipment is available on site. The role of the Hydronics Project Lead is to run hydronics jobs through self-performing installation and managing field techs. This entails leading by example through working efficiently through the build-up of hydronic systems, setting goals and benchmarks for productivity, holding the crew accountable, assisting crew in interpreting plans, and ensuring that the necessary material and equipment is available on site in advance of installation.
To accomplish this, Hydronic Project Leads will work closely with the Hydronic Department Manager and Project Manager to order material, give feedback on job progress, provide input on project schedule, and provide information changes/difficulties encountered throughout the build and identify scope gaps and initiate change order process. Provide information in addition to communicating with Department Manager, Hydronic Project Leads are expected to coordinate with Site Supervisors and other trades as necessary.
Job Duties:
- Own and manage projects at the field level, taking accountability for successful project execution.
- Lead installation crews?through all phases of hydronic system installation, from underground work through final trim-out.
- Manage field technicians, assign tasks, and coordinate with other trades to maintain the project installation schedule.
- Coordinate submittals, RFIs, and project documentation?with Department Managers (DMs) and Project Managers (PMs).
- Order and coordinate project materials?in collaboration with the DM and PM to ensure materials are available when needed.
- Participate in project kickoff meetings?and help establish project expectations, schedules, and manpower requirements.
- Perform and oversee skilled installations, ensuring all work meets established E1 quality standards.
- Maintain regular communication?with Department Managers through email, phone, and in-person meetings.
- Communicate and coordinate regularly with the General Contractor (GC)?and other trades on the jobsite.
- Read, interpret, and understand project plan sets, specifications, and installation requirements.
- Lead, train, mentor, and task lower-level employees?to support the development of a skilled and effective department workforce.
- Forecast material needs?and maintain a minimum?two-week material look-ahead, excluding emergency situations.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment?in accordance with company and jobsite safety standards.
- Forecast and manage project schedules, identifying upcoming manpower, material, and installation needs to keep projects on track.
