COMMERCIAL HVAC SERVICE TECHNICIAN

Location:

Bozeman, Montana
Pay: $40–$48/hr
Service Area: ~60-mile radius from Bozeman (covers surrounding areas like Butte, Three Forks, Ennis); technicians may travel up to 240 miles for a job with overnight stays as needed

Schedule:

Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm typical (occasional 4x10 days during busy stretches)
On-Call:
Rotates roughly once every 8 weeks; on-call techs are expected to respond and drive when called

Reports To:

Service Supervisor

• Service and repair commercial HVAC equipment — large air handlers, boilers, chillers, and related systems
• Work independently across a large territory, managing your own workload and travel
• Get dispatched directly from home (no local office yet — this role is part of the company’s plan to grow a permanent Bozeman presence)
• Talk directly with customers on-site, including putting together estimates and cost breakdowns for repairs — this isn’t just a wrench-turning role
• Take home a company vehicle and rotate into the on-call schedule

Required:

• Commercial HVAC/HVACR service experience (not primarily residential)
• Comfortable troubleshooting and repairing larger commercial equipment — air handlers, boilers, chillers
• Self-sufficient — able to manage a large territory and workload without heavy day-to-day oversight
• Able to communicate with customers and provide cost/repair estimates on-site
• Valid driver’s license and clean-enough driving record to pass an MVR check
• Willing and able to pass a background check and drug screen (required for state/federal and school-site work)
• Willing to participate in the on-call rotation

• Refrigeration experience (walk-ins, freezers, reach-ins) — transfers well even if not a direct match
• Experience with building management systems or digital controls
