ECM is seeking an accomplished Senior Staff Engineer with 7-10 years of experience leading the design, development, and delivery of secure, scalable software systems. This individual will serve as a technical leader and strategic collaborator, working closely with other members of our distributed team to align on architecture, standards, and execution. This role operates across teams, time zones, and levels of technical complexity.
The ideal candidate combines strong architectural insight, analytical thinking, and hands‑on expertise with a demonstrated ability to mentor and develop talent. They bring a proven ability to translate business goals into technical strategy, uphold the highest standards of security, compliance, and code quality, and foster an environment of collaboration. Experience engaging with executive leadership and building cohesive, high‑performing development teams will be key to success in this role.
Occasional travel may be required to maintain alignment and support cross‑team initiatives.
- Collaborate with the team; help guide colleagues in design and development best practices; act as a trusted resource and mentor.
- Design and implement new features and enhancements, choosing quality over quantity.
- Build features through an iterative development process while consistently maintaining backwards compatibility.
- Collaborate with Director of Software Architecture on systems design and functionality.
- Maintain and enhance the fault‑tolerance and security aspects of the system.
- B.S. or higher in computer science, or a closely related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 7-10 years of professional software development experience.
- Diverse and well‑rounded technical background.
- Deeply skilled in building and growing technical talent through mentorship and guidance.
- Analytical thinking:
Ability to break down complex problems into smaller, actionable tasks. - Effective coach and mentor to colleagues preferring influence over authority.
- Proven record building cohesive and high‑performing development teams.
- A deep understanding of software architecture principles, security standards, and industry best practices.
- Able to provide and accept constructive feedback.
