OverviewWe are recruiting an experienced Painter to join a busy in‑house maintenance team across residential properties in RG and SL postcodes. This role offers consistent work, a supportive team environment, and a company van and fuel card.
This position is ideal for someone confident delivering high‑quality decorating work within occupied and void homes. You will deliver high‑quality painting, decorating and wall tiling, plan each job, complete works to specification and customer expectations, carry out damp and mould remediation, external cleaning, surface preparation, minor repairs to tiling and timber joinery, organise daily workload, keep clear communication with scheduling, work safely according to legislation and procedures, use materials responsibly, identify requirements early, order materials via approved suppliers, support colleagues and other trades, and build positive relationships with residents.
Day‑to‑DayResponsibilities
- Complete internal painting and decorating tasks, ensuring a high‑quality, long‑lasting finish.
- Prepare surfaces thoroughly, including sanding, filling, sealing, stain‑blocking and minor remedial prep work.
- Ensure damp or mould‑affected areas are fully restored to a clean, professional standard.
- Identify and report any further property issues to supervisors or surveyors.
- Manage your daily workload effectively, completing work within agreed timescales and budgets.
- Maintain excellent customer service while working in occupied homes, ensuring minimal disruption to tenants.
- Use materials efficiently and keep your van and tools in good working condition.
- Follow company Health & Safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment.
- Liaise with operatives and supervisors to ensure smooth delivery of works across the patch.
- Travelling across the RG and SL postcodes in a company‑provided vehicle.
- Proven background as a Painter or Painter & Decorator.
- Strong preparation skills, including all aspects of surface repair and finishing.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Confidence working in residential, occupied properties.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Good organisational skills and ability to manage your workload.
- Full UK Driving Licence (van and fuel card provided).
- No more than 5 points.
- To achieve the upper pay bracket you must show good experience of working on social housing repair contracts.
- Competitive hourly rate of £18 - £21 per hour.
- 12‑week temporary assignment with potential for extension.
- Company van and fuel card provided.

- The advertising rates are based on working CIS; PAYE and holiday payment terms can be discussed, which may result in a slight reduction in the advertised headline rate.
