Job Summary
Dental Front Desk Reception – Bradenton is responsible for front office support for the LECOM School of Dental Medicine Dental Practices, including scheduling, patient relations, collections, and adherence to policies and procedures. The position is Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Responsibilities- Check‑in and check‑out patients, answer telephone calls, and verify personal information for billing purposes.
- Assist in demonstrating front office business operations to students.
- Attend meetings approved by SDM that support professional advancement.
- Supervise and manage a 10‑20 chair patient practice area.
- Collaborate with faculty and students to maintain patient flow.
- Accept directions and assignments to assist dental students on a daily basis.
- Be available during assigned hours for student instruction and practice development.
- Report end‑of‑day (EOD) and balance reports for the Financial Officer.
- Protect money, checks, credit cards, and collect insurance information.
- Coordinate dental materials inventory with the Dispensary.
- Contribute to LECOM’s mission by assisting with institutional fundraising and participating in the LECOM Scholarship Auction.
- Participate in scholarly activity to enrich and broaden the student learning experience.
- Serve as a representative of LECOM by engaging in community outreach, including serving on boards and participating in fundraisers.
- Accept other duties as needed for practice needs.
- Phone and computer experience in a dental or related field, including Axi Um system entry.
- Knowledge of patient relations, scheduling, and bookkeeping.
- Knowledge of ADA coding, dental insurance, and reimbursement.
- Compliance with state and federal regulations and safety protocols at the practice level.
- Knowledge of patient privacy (HIPAA) and student privacy (FERPA).
- Understanding of OSHA and safety guidelines; protection of office, dental, and facility equipment.
- Strong communication skills and computer literacy (MS Office Suite). Accurate data entry skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and follow‑through.
- Training and certification on the Institutional Data System, Jenzabar.
- Maintaining a consistent work schedule.
- Effective interpersonal skills, including tact and diplomacy.
- Ability to assess and prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and demands.
- Maintain confidentiality of work‑related information and materials.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Work cooperatively and collegially with others, consistent with a workplace of dignity, respect, and EEO rules and regulations.
- Reliably report to work as scheduled and devote full attention and energy to LECOM’s important work.
- Accept work directives from managers and supervisors respectfully.
- Be flexible to accept other duties as needed for practice needs.
Education and experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Bilingual applicant preferred. AS or BS degree with 2–5 years of similar work experience is preferred. Computer and online interactive knowledge is required.
