Position Overview
Oversees student learning activities in the Tutoring and Academic Success Center (TASC). Designs, pilots, implements, coordinates, and evaluates tutoring, study coaching, supplemental instruction, workshop programs, and developmental skills labs. Engages with a large number of students daily, teaching and reinforcing independent learning strategies while providing content‑specific support.
Develops, organizes, updates, and maintains study materials. Coordinates learning initiatives with the TASC team, faculty, course coordinators, and department chairs.
Compensation and ScheduleThis is a 10‑month position scheduled for 35 hours per week with a salary range prorated to $22,009.40–$32,313.17.
Key Responsibilities- Education/
Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a four‑year college or university and one or more years of related experience or training. Prior tutoring or teaching experience preferred. - Academic Expertise: Demonstrable knowledge of college‑level math (algebra, trigonometry, statistics, or calculus) or science (biology, chemistry, physics, anatomy & physiology) or English.
- Supervisory
Experience:
One or more years as a lead employee, responsible for scheduling, training, and assisting others. - Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional documents, write reports and correspondence, and present information to diverse audiences.
- Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; perform calculations with standard measures of currency, weight, volume, and distance.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled instructions.
- Computer
Skills:
Intermediate word processing, spreadsheets, internet, and e‑mail skills; proficiency with discipline‑specific and college software. - Certificates and Licenses: None required.
