Position Overview
An adjunct faculty member will maintain the highest academic standards in his/her discipline, exercise professionalism in all activities related to the role of academician, and perform duties assigned by the Department Chair. This is a temporary position contracted as needed.
Compensation: $2000 per 3 ILH.
Responsibilities
Teach all courses as assigned.Maintain attendance and punctuality.Maintain a professional appearance at all times.Prepare course syllabi (if not provided by the Department).Prepare instructional materials (if not provided by Department).Deliver course content effectively to support student learning and meet designated student learning outcomes.Participate in assessment.Meet all scheduled classes on the assigned day/time.Use scheduled class time appropriately.Make oneself available to students and college officials as needed.Demonstrate a professional attitude, philosophy, compassion and commitment that promotes student growth and learning.Demonstrate commitment to the institutional mission, goals, and objectives.Adhere to College Rules and Procedures, which reflect updated federal, state, and local legislation/regulations and College policy that governs the educational process.Maintain accurate student records for grading and attendance purposes, submitting attendance, grades, and other reports within college deadlines.During periods of planned absences, coordinate with the Department Chair or supervising academic administrator for qualified substitute instructors and provide instructional materials, protocols, and directions to ensure consistent and sequential classroom instruction.Promote and maintain a healthy and safe educational and work environment, free from harassment and discrimination.Demonstrate professional growth and development by updating knowledge of subject matter and using effective teaching techniques.Develop, maintain, and promote a positive working environment among departmental faculty.Perform all other duties as assigned by the Department Chair or other supervising academic administrator.Qualifications
Education/
Experience:
Demonstrated teaching skills and subject knowledge, preferably at the community college level. Must meet degree and credit hour requirements in accordance with the criteria for accreditation of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. Minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Anthropology, plus a master’s degree or a doctorate or master’s in Anthropology.

Skills:
Must demonstrate effective use of instructional technology and be familiar with current office hardware and software.
