Adjunct Faculty
An adjunct faculty member will be responsible for maintaining the highest academic standards in his/her particular discipline. The individual is expected to exercise professionalism in all activities related to the role of academician, including those concerned with the various duties assigned by the Department Chair, and any involvement with colleagues, peers, community and students. The position of an adjunct faculty member is temporary, and is contracted as needed.
They are four different courses please see minimum requirements below:
Astronomy (AST 1002) Earth and Space Science (ESC 1000C):
Intro. to Environmental Science (EVR 1001) Intro. to Oceanography (OCE 1001)

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Education/Experience:
- Demonstrated teaching skills and subject knowledge, preferably at the community college level. Degree and credit hour requirements must be met in accordance with the criteria for accreditation of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.
- Descriptive Astronomy (AST 1002): 18 graduate semester hours in astronomy or related physics or physical science courses + master's degree or a master's degree with a major in astronomy, physics or a related physical science subfield.
- Earth and Space Science (ESC 1000C): Master's degree in Earth Science. or a master's degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in any combination of the following subject areas: astronomy, chemistry, earth science, ecology, environmental science, geology, meteorology, oceanography(chemistry emphasis), physical science, physics.
- Intro. to Environmental Science (EVR 1001): Master's degree in Environmental Science. or Master's degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in any combination of the following subject areas: astronomy, chemistry, earth science, ecology, environmental science, geology, meteorology, oceanography(chemistry emphasis), physical science, physics.
