Overview
Palm Shores Behavioral Health Center provides quality mental health care and education services for adolescents, ages 11–17 who are experiencing behavioral, emotional, educational, family and social challenges. The program establishes healthy behaviors and prepares children to transition back home. We are located in Manatee County, Florida.
ResponsibilitiesThe Therapist is a key member of the Palm Shores Treatment Team and is responsible for conducting therapeutic services for patients. The Therapist provides counseling sessions for families, individuals, and groups. Responsibilities include interviewing and developing the psychological history, assessing the therapeutic needs of the individual and family, developing appropriate treatment objectives and monthly treatment summaries. Therapists act as the patients’ and families’ primary contact during the stay at the facility, as well as their advocate with the treatment team and coordinating discharge.
Job Skills /Knowledge- Experienced trauma-focused therapy, neurodivergent disorders, PTSD, mood disorders (bipolar).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to document assessments, treatment planning and interventions; ability to communicate clearly with the interdisciplinary treatment team, managed care representatives, patients and families.
- Knowledge of individual, group, and family therapy dynamics and techniques related to cultural, social, economic, communication, and family system roles.
- Clinical skills to assess treatment dynamics and develop effective treatment strategies within the overall plan.
- For employees working with children and adolescents: ability to obtain and interpret information relevant to child/adolescent needs, understanding of developmental stages and the range of treatment appropriate for this age group.

- License/Certification
:
Current license from the State of Florida (LCSW, LMFT, LMHC), or a Registered Intern in the aforementioned fields preferred. One (1) year direct clinical experience with children/adolescents. - Required Education
:
Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in social work or mental health counseling. - Background
:
Must be able to pass a Level 2 Background Screening and Pre-employment Drug Test.
