Bradenton, FL
- Prepare and organize the operating room equipment, instruments, and supplies as required for various surgical procedures
- Checks the patient’s chart, identifies the patient, and verifies the surgery to be performed with consent forms, and brings the patient to the assigned operating room
- Anticipate the surgeon's and patient's needs during a procedure
- Take care of specimens, prepare, check, and monitor medications, and assist with dressings
- Open sterile supplies, sets up a sterile and aseptic environment, and maintains the sterile environment field during procedure
- Utilize correct body mechanics in moving, transporting, and positioning patients, stretchers, and/or tables to prevent injury to patients and personnel
- Follow relevant safety and sanitation guidelines
- Participate in the orientation and education of all operating room staff on an ongoing basis
- Participate in stocking and restocking medical supplies
- Inspect, replace, and sterilize medical instruments
- Provide surgeons and patients with necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment
- Assess comfort and safety measures and provide verbal and tactile reassurance to the patient
- High school Diploma or GED minimum
- Graduated from an accredited Surgical Technologist program (CAAHEP or ABHES) with CST certification OR Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) certification required
- Must have at least 1 year of experience in a Healthcare Facility as a Surgical Technologist preferred OR previous Cath Lab, Electrophysiology, or Invasive Vascular experience
- Current BLS Certification required
- Must have Cardiovascular experience
The Surgical Technician will assist with various types of surgical procedures. They will collaborate closely with Nurses and other Surgical Technologists to communicate with patients before and after surgery and ensure their health throughout procedures. They will assist in providing quality care to the surgical patient. Responsible for the general maintenance of equipment, room, and supplies under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
Performs scrub duties and assists in the maintenance of instruments, equipment, and supplies. Always demonstrates service excellence—other duties as assigned.
