Procedure Scheduler

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Procedure Scheduler to join our team. The Procedure Scheduler will be responsible for efficiently coordinating all aspects of patient procedures within our gastroenterology office. This role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to multitask, and a strong commitment to patient care.

Founded in 2011, Florida Digestive Health Specialists (FDHS) is the state's largest single-specialty, physician-owned gastroenterology practice. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a Procedure Scheduler to join our team and support our mission.

Essential Duties:

  • Schedule patient appointments for gastrointestinal procedures, including colonoscopies, endoscopies, and other diagnostic tests
  • Coordinate with patients, physicians, and medical staff to ensure accurate scheduling and preparation for procedures
  • Communicate procedural instructions, including preparation and dietary guidelines, to patients in a clear and concise manner
  • Maintain accurate records of scheduled appointments and procedure details in electronic medical records (EMR) systems
  • Address patient inquiries and aid with scheduling changes or cancellations as needed
  • Collaborate with other administrative staff to optimize scheduling efficiency and patient flow within the office
  • Follow up with patients to confirm appointments and provide pre-procedure instructions
  • Assist with other administrative tasks as assigned by management
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred
  • Prior experience in medical scheduling, preferably in a gastroenterology or healthcare setting
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and scheduling software
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
  • Customer service-oriented attitude with a commitment to patient care
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures related to gastroenterology is a plus

Physical Demands:

The employee is frequently required to walk, sit, use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms using a keyboard and video display terminal. The employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and climb stairs. The employee should be able to lift and move up to 25 lbs. The work environment is typically quiet to moderate with standard office noise levels.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be exposed to sounds such as ringing phones, office equipment, and conversations among colleagues.
