Medical Office Specialist

This is an on-site, in-person position with hours from ~8:00 AM to ~5:00 PM at our Lakewood Ranch location. The address is 8340 Lakewood Ranch Blvd, Suite 210, Lakewood Ranch, FL 34202.

Position Summary:

Medical Office Specialist (MOS) is responsible for front desk coverage for the medical practice which includes registration, check-in, collecting co-pays, scheduling appointments, billing patients, and scanning records into EMR, reports, and correspondence.

Skills and abilities

include excellent professional, organizational and communication skills, general office skills, demonstrated skill on computer input and/or personal computer operation, knowledge of medical terminology, multi-task and detailed oriented, and strong interpersonal skills.

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Completion of an accredited Medical Office Assistant/Specialist program or Medical Assistant program preferred.

Work experience:

Medical Assistant Certificate of Completion and/or one year experience as a Medical Assistant or Medical Office Specialist, preferred. Familiarity with medical terminology required.

Experience with patient check-in and check-out process (according to clinic protocol) is required. General medical office procedures, understanding end of day cash balancing and charge reconciliation process (according to clinic protocol) are also required.

Skills include proficiency in basic computer programs and operating systems, such as Microsoft Office. Ability to perform courteously and professionally in all interactions is also required.

Equipment operated includes office equipment such as fax machine, copier, and telephone system. EKG machine, other patient care testing may also be used.

Work environment includes being in a well-lighted, OSHA Standard environment. May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases. May be in contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances. Occasionally subject to irregular hours. Occasionally travel to work at other locations. May be required to wear personal protective equipment as necessary.

Mental/Physical Requirements include being able to remain calm and focused in an emergency situation, see with corrective eye wear, and hear clearly with assistance.
