Medical Office Specialist
This is an on-site, in-person position with hours from ~8:00 AM to ~5:00 PM at our Lakewood Ranch location. The address is 8340 Lakewood Ranch Blvd, Suite 210, Lakewood Ranch, FL 34202.
Position Summary:
Medical Office Specialist (MOS) is responsible for front desk coverage for the medical practice which includes registration, check-in, collecting co-pays, scheduling appointments, billing patients, and scanning records into EMR, reports, and correspondence.
Skills and abilities
include excellent professional, organizational and communication skills, general office skills, demonstrated skill on computer input and/or personal computer operation, knowledge of medical terminology, multi-task and detailed oriented, and strong interpersonal skills.
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Completion of an accredited Medical Office Assistant/Specialist program or Medical Assistant program preferred.
Work experience:
Medical Assistant Certificate of Completion and/or one year experience as a Medical Assistant or Medical Office Specialist, preferred. Familiarity with medical terminology required.
Experience with patient check-in and check-out process (according to clinic protocol). Understand end of day cash balancing and charge reconciliation process (according to clinic protocol). Proficiency in basic computer programs and operating systems, such as Microsoft Office. Must be able to perform courteously and professionally in all interactions.
Equipment Operated:
Office equipment such as fax machine, copier, and telephone system. EKG machine, other patient care testing.
Work environment:
Works in a well-lighted, OSHA Standard environment. May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases. May be in contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances. Occasionally subject to irregular hours. Occasionally travel to work at other locations. May be required to wear personal protective equipment as necessary.
Mental/
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to remain calm and focused in an emergency situation. Must be able to see with corrective eye wear. Must be able to hear clearly with assistance.
