About the Role:
The Caregiver for Elderly (HHA/CNA) plays a vital role in providing compassionate and personalized care to senior individuals in their homes or care facilities. This position focuses on enhancing the quality of life for elderly clients by assisting with daily living activities, ensuring their safety, and promoting their physical and emotional well-being. The caregiver will work closely with clients and their families to understand specific needs and preferences, delivering respectful and dignified support.
This role requires a commitment to maintaining a clean, comfortable, and supportive environment while monitoring health conditions and reporting any changes to healthcare professionals. Ultimately, the caregiver contributes significantly to the independence and happiness of elderly clients, fostering trust and comfort through attentive and empathetic care.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid Home Health Aide (HHA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification recognized in the United States or 2 years caregiving experience.
- Completion of a state-approved training program for HHAs or CNAs or pass the HHA Competency Test.
- Basic knowledge of elderly care principles and safety protocols.
- Ability to pass background checks and meet any state-specific licensing or registration requirements.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to follow care plans accurately.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2 years experience working with elderly clients in home care or assisted living settings.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Familiarity with common chronic conditions affecting the elderly such as dementia, diabetes, or arthritis.
- Additional training in specialized care areas such as Alzheimer’s or palliative care.
- Bilingual abilities to communicate effectively with diverse client populations.
Responsibilities:
- Assist clients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support.
- Administer basic health care tasks including medication reminders, monitoring vital signs, and reporting any health changes to supervisors or medical staff.
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding as needed, ensuring dietary restrictions and preferences are followed.
