Systems Administrator, IT Support, Network Administrator
Delivers innovative and reliable technology solutions to support and maintain MCSO servers, connectivity, and network systems. This role focuses on administering the agency's IT infrastructure, including Active Directory, Entra (Azure AD), Microsoft Exchange (on‑premises and M365 Online), Windows Server environments, and system monitoring platforms. The role demands strong technical expertise, problem‑solving abilities, and a proactive approach to optimizing agency systems. Responsibilities include installing, configuring, operating, and maintaining operating systems and hardware;
ensuring servers are up to date, operating at maximum capacity, and protected against security threats; monitoring, troubleshooting and resolving availability, utilization, and connectivity issues; managing hosted applications and providing application updates; reviewing logs for performance audit and downtime prevention; assisting with IT planning for upgrades; and working after hours and on weekends.
- Ability to accurately enter and/or retrieve information from various computer systems and/or programs in a timely manner.
- Ability to be a self‑starter while working well in a strong team environment.
- Ability to maintain accurate records, logs, or other documentation as required by the position.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to efficiently organize, prioritize, schedule and manage daily work activities, tasks and assignments.
- Extensive knowledge of computer hardware/software characteristics and features.
- Extensive knowledge of agency standards for information technology.
- Proven experience in Active Directory administration in a multi‑forest environment.
- Hands‑on experience with Entra (Azure AD) administration.
- Proficient in administering Microsoft Exchange On‑Premises and Online.
- Proficient with Power Shell scripting skills.
- Experience managing and administering SIEM platforms.
- Working knowledge of computer technical publications and reference material.
- Skilled in communicating technical information to non‑technical users.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Three years of experience administering and supporting enterprise IT infrastructure, including administering Active Directory and Microsoft Entra (Azure AD) environments, supporting Microsoft Exchange (on‑premises and/or Microsoft 365) environments, and/or administering Windows Server environments.
- Certification desired in one or more of the following:
- Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate
- Microsoft Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
- Microsoft 365 Enterprise Administrator Expert
- CompTIA Security+ or Server+
- or comparable enterprise infrastructure certifications.
- Responsible for providing technical expertise in subject matter to maintain optimal efficiency within the agency at all times.
- Remains current in subject matter through training and other professional development.
- Effectively communicates thoughts, ideas and information to colleagues, vendors and civilians as well as actively listens to others.
- Effectively communicates with appropriate technical support personnel, vendors, other agency IT personnel and others to solve technical problems and maintains optimum operational status of equipment.
- Communicates thoughts, ideas and information on new products by delivering written and oral presentations.
- Professionally communicates through written correspondence using clear, concise, legible verbiage and grammar/spell‑check as required.
- Researches, generates and presents accurate and detailed proposals for new/upgraded equipment, rationalizing the need in terms of cost and improved effectiveness.
- Researches and recommends new technologies to improve information efficiency and operational effectiveness consistent with agency mission, strategic plan and goals.
- Responsible for documenting changes made to the environment (software/hardware) through SOPs, video clips, instructional emails, etc.
