The GIS Analyst creates customized maps and geographic information systems (GIS) projects. The GIS Analyst implements solutions for citywide initiatives and departmental users utilizing GIS technology. This position supports the environment, policies and procedures, standards, and the accuracy and consistency of GIS information in coordination with the GIS Manager.

• Author maps, interactive mapping products, and web app templates including creation of user interface layouts that enhance existing GIS products for citywide departmental productivity.
• Maintain geographic data, related attribute data, draft metadata, and project documentation, and coordinate the update and input of information into an enterprise GIS platform.
• Develop GIS solutions and provide support after the product is delivered; incorporate software solutions within the GIS architecture to meet the future needs of the organization.
• Gather, automate, convert, integrate, maintain, and publish a wide range of spatial data within a centralized enterprise database environment.
• Conduct informational queries, prepare maps, and input field data in the GIS database.
• Remain current in GIS technologies and recommend new technologies to enhance the use of GIS throughout the City.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Proficient in using GIS software and tools.
• Working knowledge of GIS principles, spatial analysis, and database design, including knowledge of relational databases and cloud-based GIS platforms.
• Strong technical expertise in programming languages and familiarity with machine learning or geospatial AI tools.
• Experience with digital mapping, data visualization, and modern GIS tools, including Esri software and AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of relational database systems, data storage and retrieval, and general design principles.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving, teamwork, and analytical skills.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Extensive hands-on practical experience utilizing the Esri suite of GIS software. Proficient in web mapping technologies and frameworks. Expertise in translating and integrating data between CAD platforms and GIS enterprise systems for planning and design initiatives.

Bachelor’s degree in geographic information systems or related field with two (2) years of experience in GIS, mapping, data analysis, and application development. Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) and/or Esri Technical certifications preferred.

At the discretion of the City Administrator or designee, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to provide the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the job will be considered.

Good driving record. Possession of and ability to maintain a Florida Driver’s License required.

Indoors and outdoors. Must be able to work closely with others and under possible stressful conditions.
