As a Porter at RWB Thrift, you are the air‑traffic controller of the backroom, anticipating the needs of the production support staff ahead of time, ensuring supplies are available and in the correct place. You play a vital role in maintaining a safe work environment by prioritizing cleanliness, organization, and flow of the production floor. You are aware of the walkways and removing hazards for the production floor team.

Your attention to detail and fast‑paced work execution contribute to a positive working experience for our production employees and help streamline overall production.

• Trailer Loader / Unloader:
  Safely and efficiently load and unload items from delivery trucks or trailers, including furniture, boxes of clothing, household goods, electronics, and other donated items. Sort and organize items, document arrivals, and move merchandise to designated store areas. Communicate with the team and follow safety protocols and store procedures.
• Trash Compactor Operator:
  Manage waste efficiently and maintain a clean, organized workspace. Operate and maintain the trash compactor, ensure proper disposal, and compact waste to optimize space.
• Organizer:
  Oversee supply management within the backroom. Receive, organize, and replenish supplies such as hangers, sensors, racks, carts, and bins to ensure timely availability on the production floor.

• Transport items between departments and assist with supply movement as needed
• Maintain inventory of supplies and notify management when supplies need replenishment
• Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe and clean environment for customers and staff
• Provide excellent customer service by anticipating the needs of the production staff so they can accelerate their workflow

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment
• Attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and organization
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of safety guidelines and procedures for cleaning and maintenance tasks

• Ability to safely perform job functions in accordance with ADA, FMLA, and other standards
• Physical strength: occasionally lift and carry up to 70 lbs, frequently exert up to 25 lbs of force
• Endurance: able to stand for extended periods of time
• Manual dexterity: perform repetitive motions with fingers or hands
• Fine motor skills: tasks involving gripping, holding, turning, or working with hands
• Balance and agility: maintain equilibrium to prevent falling on slippery or moving surfaces
• Visual acuity: clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more

• Atmosphere: dynamic, consistently busy; must thrive in a fast‑paced environment
• Noise level: noisy due to sales floor and production area; must work effectively in noise
• Lighting: bright lighting throughout the store; must work effectively in bright conditions
• Interactions with others: regular interactions with customers, donors, and coworkers; requires strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Flexibility: may be asked to switch tasks or departments based on operational needs; must work in all areas assigned
