Position SummaryResponsible for creating, executing, and overseeing the continued development of IMG Academy safety plans, policies, and crisis management. Oversight includes ongoing team member training; establishment and maintenance of health, safety, and environmental programs and guidelines to ensure the highest possible degree of safety for employees and IMGA students.
Key Responsibilities- Develop comprehensive health and safety programs identifying training priorities, target audiences, delivery methods, and timing.
- Direct or assist in the development of specialized education and training materials.
- Conduct targeted health, safety, and environmental training programs to communicate hazard control information.
- Conduct new employee occupational health, safety, and environmental orientation.
- Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace, and develop/implement preventive measures.
- Lead annual weather emergency training for employees and students.
- Conduct and coordinate on‑site inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work practices.
- Counsel and advise management concerning applicable city, state, and federal compliance regulations.
- Schedule and implement bi‑annual First Aid/CPR/AED training for employees.
- Review injury and property damage incident reports involving IMGA employees and determine incidents severe enough to warrant further investigation for corrective actions.
- Work with People Operations to evaluate Workers’ Compensation claims for OSHA record‑keeping and corrective actions.
- Develop controls for identifying hazards, coordinate implementation of controls from hazard analysis, and measure and evaluate the effectiveness of the hazard control system, policies, and procedures; recommend changes that reflect improved opportunities to eliminate workplace accidents and injuries.
- Act as liaison for IMG Academy with all local emergency response personnel and agencies.
- Act as liaison with insurance risk engineering providers and work closely with the Insurance Coordinator to evaluate claims for risk mitigation opportunities.
- Organize and lead the Incident Command Planning Team (ICP) for all natural disasters and health emergencies.
- Schedule and maintain fire, hurricane, tornado, and other drill records.
- Coordinate and ensure OSHA training, maintenance, and compliance for all departments.
- Complete all necessary OSHA incident reporting and OSHA 300 Log record keeping (Country Club and Legacy Hotel).
- Collaborate with the Director of Incidents to analyze, interpret, and report accident, loss, and exposure statistical data; prepare comprehensive recommendations for corrective action to eliminate or minimize potential hazards.
- Organize and lead the Safety Committee and conduct quarterly safety meetings with relevant departments and managers.
- Assist with Academy response during emergencies or weather‑related situations; may need to reside on campus for several days during extreme emergencies.
- Perform other related duties as directed that correspond to the overall function of this position.
- Must have 5–10 years of experience in roles of similar responsibility.
- BA/BS degree in Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Sciences, or related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience as a health and safety coordinator or manager for an operating company.
- Certification in Occupational Safety & Health.
- Certification in National Fire Protection Association Standards.
- Strong presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Skilled in standards, concepts, practices, and procedures in the health, safety, and environmental fields.
- Knowledge or training in occupational health, safety, and environmental compliance with applicable federal and state regulations and standards.
- Demonstrated experience delivering hands‑on health, safety, and environmental training.
- Ability to develop, implement, and coordinate comprehensive health and safety accident prevention programs.
- Strong PC skills in MS Office.
- OSHA Authorized Instructor for General Industry.
