The Fleet Operations Manager provides strategic leadership for the creation, implementation, and ongoing management of Sun Coast Blood Centers' Fleet Operations Department. This position is responsible for designing, implementing, and leading a comprehensive fleet operations program that ensures the safety, reliability, compliance, and cost-effectiveness of all fleet assets supporting blood collections, laboratory operations, product distribution, and organizational services.
The Fleet Operations Manager will lead the development of the department from the ground up, including operational planning, fleet technology implementation, vendor selection, policy development, budgeting, regulatory compliance, fleet infrastructure, and long-term operational strategy. Upon implementation, the position will provide ongoing leadership through continuous improvement, operational excellence, and strategic fleet planning.
The Fleet Operations Department serves as critical infrastructure supporting Sun Coast Blood Centers' ability to safely collect, transport, and deliver lifesaving blood products throughout the communities it serves. Through strategic planning, operational excellence, and sound financial stewardship, the Fleet Operations Manager protects organizational assets, minimizes operational risk, and supports Sun Coast Blood Centers' mission, vision, and strategic priorities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education- Associate degree in Automotive Technology, Fleet Management, Business Administration, Transportation, Logistics, or a related field required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Fleet Management, Transportation, Logistics, Automotive Management, or a related field preferred.
- Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM)
- ASE Master Technician Certification
- OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Certification
- Commercial Driver License (CDL)
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
- Additional ASE certifications related to commercial or medium-duty vehicles preferred
- Equivalent education, certifications, and directly related experience may be considered
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in fleet operations, fleet maintenance, transportation, or commercial vehicle management.
- Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory or management experience.
- Experience developing preventive maintenance programs and vehicle lifecycle strategies.
- Experience managing operational and capital budgets.
- Experience with fleet management software, GPS telematics, maintenance management systems, and operational reporting.
- Experience managing vendor relationships, contracts, procurement, and fleet‑related purchasing.
- Experience with in healthcare, logistics, transportation, emergency services, or another regulated environment preferred.
- Experience developing, implementing, or significantly expanding a fleet operations, transportation, maintenance, or logistics program strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of commercial fleet operations, preventive maintenance, and vehicle lifecycle management.
- Knowledge of FMCSA, OSHA, EPA, DOT, AABB, FDA, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of fleet budgeting, procurement, asset management, insurance reporting, and fleet risk management.
- Knowledge of MVR monitoring, CDL compliance, driver qualification standards, and fleet safety practices.
