Responsibilities
Suncoast Behavioral Health Center provides quality mental health care and education services for adolescents, ages 11‑17 who are experiencing behavioral, emotional, educational, family and social challenges. The dedicated professionals provide quality mental health treatment for children and establish healthy behaviors and prepare children to transition back home.
As a Registered Nurse (RN) PRN 7P‑7A
, you provide professional nursing care on a designated unit in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Palm Shores Behavioral Health Center. You prescribe, coordinate, and delegate nursing care utilizing the nursing process integrated into the multidisciplinary treatment team plan of care. You are accountable for assigned nursing care activities on a shift basis and are responsible for promoting and enhancing professional nursing practice on the unit.
You are authorized to initiate restraints or seclusion and assess continuation. You also assume Charge Nurse responsibilities as required.

Registered Nurse (RN)
Job Requirements:
- Education:
Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required;
Bachelor's Degree or higher in Nursing preferred. - Credentials:
Current license to practice nursing in Florida (or eligible to receive or renew) required. - Experience:
Clinical experience in a psychiatric setting preferred. - Physical Requirements:
Physical agility to manage patients with crisis prevention interventions. Push, pull and lift up to 50 pounds. Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending and stooping.
Additional Requirements
:
- Must be able to read, understand, and follow policies, procedures, and written treatment plans.
- Must be able to pass a Level 2 Background Screening and Pre‑employment Drug Test.
- Must be able to interact positively with patients on a daily basis whose behavior may be challenging, uncooperative or aggressive.
- Must be able to work successfully under highly stressful conditions.
- Must be able to collaborate with other multidisciplinary team members in an appropriate fashion.
- Must have effective comprehensive reading skills, strong communication skills, written and verbal.
- Current CPR or BLS certification or successful completion during orientation.
- Successful completion of Handle with Care prior within 7 days of orientation.
